Reiki Life Principles
The Five Principles of Mikao Usui
The Reiki Life Principles, also known as the Five Reiki Principles (Gokai), are a central part of the Usui Reiki tradition. They were taught by Mikao Usui as guidance for a conscious, mindful, and balanced way of living.
They encourage us to become more aware of our daily lives, reflect on our thoughts and emotions, and develop greater harmony with ourselves and our surroundings.
The five principles are:
Just for today, do not be angry
This principle reminds us to become more conscious of anger and challenging situations. It encourages us to pause, reflect, and not be guided solely by spontaneous reactions.
Just for today, do not worry
Worries are a natural part of life, but this principle encourages us to develop trust and focus more on the present moment.
Just for today, be grateful
Gratitude helps us appreciate what is already present and can support a more mindful and appreciative approach to everyday life.
Just for today, work honestly and with dedication
This principle represents mindfulness, responsibility, and a conscious approach to our tasks and personal path.
Just for today, honor and respect all living beings
It reminds us to act with compassion, respect, and appreciation toward ourselves, other people, and all living beings.
The Reiki Life Principles are not strict rules, but rather an invitation for personal growth. They accompany many Reiki practitioners as a daily inspiration and support a life with greater awareness, inner peace, and balance.
